Displaced Persons Emergency Food Distribution

Ocotber 2024

Ethar has successfully delivered 500 food packs in Sudan that you’ve helped to buy with your donations. The food packs have been distributed in Kassala, East Sudan, to victims of the Sudan War who are fleeing violence and persecution. This emergency response, conducted from October 1st to October 2nd, 2024, aimed to alleviate food insecurity among the people severely affected by the ongoing Sudan crisis. These people are known as internally displaced persons (IDPs) because they’re refugees within their own country.

The distribution targeted 500 vulnerable families hosted in seven schools within Kassala city. Each food pack contained essential items such as oil, sugar, flour, lentils, and rice, sufficient to meet a household's basic dietary needs for 20 days. A thorough needs assessment by the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) ensured the most vulnerable families were prioritised. The coordinated effort involved HAC, local community leaders, and volunteers from the IDP community, following strict measures for fair distribution and adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.

We wish to emphasise the role of our Ethar Family - supporters, donors and partners from around the world in making this response a possibility, and express our thanks to all of you for supporting refugees and displaced people who are enduring the very worst condition
