
RAMADAN UPDATE
During the holy month of Ramadan 2026, humanitarian interventions were implemented across Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen, and Ethiopia, targeting the most vulnerable communities affected by displacement, poverty, and ongoing crises.
YOU RESPONDED
A total of 25,480 families (142,720 individuals) benefited from a comprehensive package of Ramadan assistance, including food distribution, cash support, iftar meals, zakat, and Eid gifts. The interventions aimed to alleviate immediate hardship, ensure dignified access to food, and support families in meeting essential needs during Ramadan.
The response prioritized internally displaced persons (IDPs), low-income households, orphans, women, and persons with disabilities, ensuring inclusive and needs-based support. SUDAN
In Sudan, Ramadan interventions reached 14,630 families (76,900 individuals)across Northern State, Port Sudan, Kassala, Gadarif, and Khartoum, focusing on IDPs, refugees, and vulnerable host communities.

FOOD PACKS
Ramadan food packs were distributed to 8,250 families
(41,250 individuals), providing essential food items to sustain households throughout the holy month. The intervention significantly reduced food insecurity among displaced and low-income families.

FRESH BREAD
Fresh bread was distributed to 2,100 families
(10,500 individuals) in Gadarif, addressing daily food needs and ensuring access to a key staple for vulnerable households.
IFTAR MEALS
Iftar meals were provided to over 3,500 individuals in Dongola and Port Sudan, particularly targeting internally displaced persons. This initiative enabled beneficiaries to break their fast in a dignified and communal setting.
ZAKAT FITR (CASH ASSISTANCE)
Zakat al-Fitr cash assistance reached500 families (2,500 individuals) in Kassala, enabling beneficiaries to meet urgent needs and participate in Eid with dignity.
ZAKAT DISTRIBUTION (GENERAL)
A larger zakat intervention supported 3,780 families (18,900 individuals), providing financial assistance to vulnerable households to address essential expenses during Ramadan.

EID GIFTS FOR ORPHANS
Eid clothing was distributed to 100 orphaned children in Kassala, promoting dignity, inclusion, and joy during Eid celebrations.
WOMEN'S IFTAR GATHERING
A special iftar event was organized for 60 women, creating a space for social support, engagement, and community solidarity.
DJIBOUTI
In Djibouti, Ramadan assistance reached 5,950 families (36,320 individuals) across Djibouti City, Ali Sabieh (Nasib), Obock, and Tadjourah.
FOOD PACK DISTRIBUTION
Food packs were distributed to 4,050 families (20,250 individuals), ensuring access to essential food items and improving household food security during Ramadan.
ZAKAT FITR (Cash Assistance)
Zakat al-Fitr cash support reached 500 families (2,500 individuals), allowing beneficiaries to meet urgent needs and prepare for Eid.
ZAKAT MAAL DISTRIBUTION
(In-Kind Support)
Zakat maal assistance supported 700 families (3,500 individuals) through the provision of essential support items, helping vulnerable households meet their basic needs during Ramadan. This assistance contributed to improving living conditions and alleviating financial hardship among targeted beneficiaries.
IFTAR MEALS
Iftar meals were provided to 4,000 individuals, helping fasting beneficiaries access daily meals and strengthening community cohesion.
EID GIFTS (Clothing Distribution)
Eid clothing was distributed to 700 children, ensuring they could celebrate Eid with dignity and a sense of inclusion.
WOMEN'S IFTAR GATHERING
A women-focused iftar gathering brought together 70 women, fostering community engagement and psychosocial support.
ETHIOPIA
In Ethiopia, Ramadan interventions supported 2,500 families (12,500 individuals) in the Afar region (Samra Logia).

FOOD PACK DISTRIBUTION
Food packs were distributed to 2,000 families (10,000 individuals), addressing food insecurity and ensuring access to essential nutrition during Ramadan.

ZAKAT CASH DISTRIBUTION
Cash assistance was provided to 200 families (1,000 individuals), enabling beneficiaries to meet urgent needs such as food and healthcare.

ZAKAT FITR DISTRIBUTION
(In-Kind – Food Items)
Zakat al-Fitr assistance was provided in the form of food items to 300 families (1,500 individuals), ensuring that vulnerable households had access to essential food supplies ahead of Eid. This support enabled beneficiaries to meet their immediate nutritional needs and participate in Eid with dignity.
YEMEN
In Yemen, Ramadan support reached 2,400 families (17,000 individuals) in Al Khawkha and Sana’a.
FOOD PACK DISTRIBUTION
Food packs were distributed to 2,100 families (10,500 individuals), helping vulnerable households cope with severe food shortages.
IFTAR MEALS
Iftar meals were provided to 5,000 individuals in Al Khawkha, ensuring access to daily meals for fasting individuals.
ZAKAT DISTRIBUTION

Zakat al-Fitr assistance was provided in the form of food items to 300 families (1,500 individuals), ensuring that vulnerable households had access to essential food supplies ahead of Eid. This support enabled beneficiaries to meet their immediate nutritional needs and participate in Eid with dignity.
BEYOND RAMADAN
We’re still distributing aid to people on the ground in Sudan, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Yemen. We’re still supporting Eritrean refugees, as well as those from all the other regions of East Africa affected by war, famine, and crisis.
