Ethar Relief Update and Qurbani Project 2009

Firstly, we at Ethar Relief take this opportunity to extend a very warm and sincere thank you to all of our donors. It is with great pleasure that we inform you of the success of our latest expedition to Eastern Sudan entitled “Remembering the Forgotten” dedicated solely to aid Eritrean refugees. The week long trip was led by a group of highly skilled and dedicated professionals from Birmingham from the 24th Oct to 1st Nov 09. All members of the expedition personally funded their own way.

Alhamdulillah, the group managed to achieve all of its objectives as outlined below:

  • Delivery and distribution of approximately £87 000 of aid mainly in the form of food, medical aid and educational materials and support as well as a number of very needy small projects.

  • Filming for a unique documentary seeking to raise the plight of these forgotten Eritrean refugees.

  • Performance of an in depth needs analysis to inform all future fundraising projects.

However, as always it doesn’t stop there; the work must continue.

In celebration of the historical sacrifice carried out by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) thousands of years ago, the blessings of Eid-ul-Adha fall upon us once again.  Ethar Relief are now alhumdulillah in a position to offer qurbanis on your behalf across a number of tahfeez-ul-quran madrassas serving many of the local orphans and also the refugee camps housing the poor in Eastern Sudan.

For many of these orphans and destitute communities, it is the first opportunity they get all year to taste meat; we will ensure your qurbani is delivered to the most needy.

Prices 2009:

Sheep    £55

Cow       £210 (equivalent to 7 qurbanis)

The deadline for arranging all qurbani’s is 24th November 2009.

Once again, we thank you for supporting Ethar in making a REAL difference to the lives of many Eritrean refugees.

It is narrated that Prophet Muhammed (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was asked, ‘What is Qurbani?’ Muhamad (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) answered, ‘It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (AS)’. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah. (Hadith - Trimidhi).
